Girls Chess Night moves to new location

MADISON – The 2017 edition of Girls Chess Night will launch on June 20, but the young players will gather in a new location this summer.

This activity is one of numerous sessions that Madison City Chess League sponsors.

“Girls Chess Night is moving to a monthly format but lasting a little longer each time we meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Our summer location for June and July is the new Yes Class location at 411 Hughes Road, Suite C in Madison,” Rosi Rajbhandari said.

Rajbhandari has volunteered to serve as Girls Chess Coordinator for Madison City Chess League.

“Yes Class is a new Madison business that offers enrichment programs in math and English. Owner Eun Park has graciously offered this location for our summer meetings in June and July. You can learn more about Yes Class at yesclass.com,” Rajbhandari said.

“So, mark your calendars for June 20 and July 25 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Girls, bring your chess sets if you have them. We will also have extra sets there if you do not,” Rajbhandari said.

Girls Chess Night will be a casual gathering for girls to have fun playing chess with each other every month. “We also will schedule Girls Chess Nights at various schools after classes resume in August for the 2017-2018 school year,” Rajbhandari said.

Rajbhandari works as a software and systems engineer and “is the mother of two passionate chess girls who attend Horizon Elementary School,” league executive director Ranae Bartlett said. said. “She believes in the benefits of kids learning chess to help them learn to focus, think ahead, make logical decisions and build confidence.”

“Rosi Rajbhandari has joined the Madison City Chess League to promote these benefits to young girls in the Madison community,” Bartlett said.
