Robin Cotton likes Madison’s bright, creative people
MADISON – Madison is one of those places where everybody knows your name, according to Robin Cotton.
“I love knowing so many of the residents. I know most of the city council, the woman who rings up my groceries, and the middle-school crossing guard,” Robin said. “There’s a real connection here and, with that, a responsibility to one another.”
“Madison is a family- … or better yet … kid-centric town. The community supports the schools and families with all its heart,” Robin said.
Madison is smaller than other towns in which she has lived, but “Madison is full of bright and creative residents.”
A native of Louisville, Ky., Robin graduated from the Youth Performing Arts School and attended University of Louisville. Her husband Frank Cotton was transferred with his job to Madison in 2002.
Robin and Frank’s children are Frankie Cotton, a student at Calhoun Community College, and Anna Cotton, a recent graduate of Bob Jones High School and incoming freshman at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
“I’m a full-time Realtor at Crye-Leike Realtors in Madison. Along with my husband, I own Madison Band Supply,” Robin said. “He does a wonderful job of running our business.”
In addition, Robin teaches private lessons for clarinet to about 20 middle and high school students for about 15 hours each week. “I try to stay involved in the music programs in the local schools,” she said. In past years, she has volunteered at Manna House.
“My family has a soft spot for dogs. We have four — two boxer/husky mixes, one rescue Jack Russel/rat terrier mix and one Yorkie,” Robin said.
“I love all music. I am lucky to participate in Madison Community Band, and I conduct Madison Clarinet Choir. I have played with Madison City Community Orchestra and Prevailing Winds Flute Choir in the past and hope to again soon,” she said.
Robin enjoys attending concerts presented on the dock at Lowe Mill, by Huntsville Symphony Orchestra and for Concerts in the Park. “I’m a huge fan of Main Street Cafe and Chuck Wagon BBQ (especially their white sauce),” she said.
