Madison Street Festival rates no. 1 for Mavis Butts

MADISON – Mavis Butts and her family love Madison because of a multitude of activities to pursue, like Madison Street Festival.

“It’s not too big but not too small. There are jobs and growth all the time unlike the small town we came from,” she said.

“Everything you could possible need or want is in one town,” Mavis said. “What a blessing!”

Mavis was born in Mobile and lived in Greenville, where she graduated from high school. “Until we moved to Madison, my career consisted of 19 years as a child care provider licensed by the State of Alabama,” she said.

“In 2006, my husband Eric accepted a job in Huntsville. In the same year, we were able to build a home in Madison, where we currently live,” Mavis said.

“Our most favorite thing about Madison is the Madison Street Festival. This year will be our third year as a vendor,” Mavis said. “We  enjoy doing this event because we get to see returning customers and meet new ones.”

Mavis and Eric Butts have two children. Their daughter Jessica and son-in-law Ben live in Athens. Their son Daniel and daughter-in-law Laurel live in Owens Crossroad and have three children.

“We have a fur grand-dog and cat, also,” Mavis said.

“My husband, daughter, son-in-law and I have a family craft business called Mother Daughter Crafts,” Mavis said. “We create custom initial and seasonal door hangers, plus a variety of other wooden items.” To view Mother Daughter Crafts, visit Facebook/Mother Daughter Crafts 5585 or etsy.com.

“This year at the Madison Street Festival, we plan on having more items to choose from. So, come by and check us out on Oct. 7 in downtown Madison. See you then,” Mavis said.
