Library to host weaving class

MADISON – Madison Public Library will host “Crafting With Crystal: Making a Tote Basket” on Aug. 25.

Led by instructor Crystal Kitchens, the session will start at 9 a.m. Due to the length of the class, participants should bring a sack lunch.

“Join us and instructor Crystal Kitchens in weaving your own 4.5-inch by 9 inch by 8 inch tote or purse basket,” library assistant manager Teresa Allison said. “Learn how to handle reed, fill in the bottom, and shape a basket.”

Dyed reed will be available for participants to decorate a basket. This class does not require basket-making experience. “Basket-making is wet work, so wear old clothes and bring a towel,” Allison said.

A $14 supply fee will be due at the beginning of the workshop.

Pre-registration is required. To register, call 256-461-0046 or email tallison@hmcpl.org.
