Madison Bowl’s PB&J donations go to Inside-Out
MADISON – In the Madison Bowl on Sept. 8, school spirit will reach the max with intra-city rivalry between James Clemens and Bob Jones high schools. To unite the town, competition cheer squads from both schools will collect food for hungry families.
Fans can place their donations of peanut butter, jelly or both items in a red truck for Bob Jones and a blue truck for James Clemens. Cheerleaders will collect the food from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
Inside-Out Ministries will receive the food. Located at 103 Gin Oaks Court in Madison, Inside-Out provides short-term emergency assistance for basic living necessities to individuals who have a demonstrated need for help.
Along with donations at the Madison Bowl, residents and students can take peanut butter and jelly through Sept. 8 to campus at Bob Jones and James Clemens, along with the Inside-Out office. Early donations also will count toward totals for a person’s favorite team.
With both of Madison’s home teams in competition, traffic will be extremely heavy, especially along Madison Boulevard and Halsey Way to reach the stadium on Celtic Drive. Limited spaces for handicap parking will be available at the stadium. Anyone with special needs should arrive early for the best parking.
Team boosters will coordinate parking at Madison City Schools Stadium, 211 Celtic Drive. School officials ask fans to cooperate with the boosters’ instructions. Boosters will close the parking lot when it reaches capacity.
Officers with Madison Police will provide security and safety measures at the stadium and traffic control on roadways.
This year, Bob Jones will be the ‘home team,’ and Patriot fans will sit on the stadium’s west side. James Clemens fans will sit on the east side.
Game tickets cost $7 and will be sold at each school in advance, online at preptix.com or at the gate on game night. Parking at the stadium costs $5.
After the contest for the Madison Bowl, Inside-Out will continue to accept peanut butter and jelly for distribution to clients.
