Jets help Make-A-Wish during homecoming
MADISON – In keeping with school tradition, the James Clemens Jets will devote its homecoming parade to helping a charitable cause. For 2017, Make-A-Wish Foundation will receive donations.
For the past three years, James Clemens sponsors and students decided to forego traditional homecoming floats that required expensive, temporary decorations and many workhours.
Students and teachers decided to switch the ‘float’ energy to charitable collections, Melanie Turned previously stated. Turner is SGA and Give Back sponsor for homecoming.
On Sept. 28, parade lineup will start at 4 p.m. at Heritage Elementary School.
A shuttle will run from 4:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. from the James Clemens auditorium to Heritage. Parade participants cannot park or drop off at Heritage. All parade participants must complete a parade permission form and present the form to his or her sponsor.
The parade will start at 5:30 p.m. During the parade, each class at James Clemens will raise funds for Make-A-Wish. The freshman class will follow the theme, “Pound the Cougars.” Other themes are “Loot the Cougars,” sophomores; “Rob the Cougars,” juniors; and “Out Shine the Cougars,” seniors. Mason Overcash is parade chairperson.
Homecoming court representatives will meet with Megan Riggins in Room B217 during Refuel A time slots of specified dates.
On Sept. 29, James Clemens Jets will face the Clay-Chalkville High School Cougars from Pinson in Madison City Schools Stadium at 7 p.m.
The 2017 James Clemens Homecoming Dance will rock out on Sept. 30 from 8 to 11 p.m. Tickets cost $7 each and will be sold during Refuel time of homecoming week in the Landing. Students can select a song to be played at the dance with a link on the homecoming website.
A student can purchase a ticket for a date who does not attend James Clemens but most present a copy of the date’s ID at time of purchase. No one older than 21 years old can attend the dance. Amy Haley is sponsoring the dance.
