Plant trees with JustServe’s Madison project

MADISON – The JustServe organization has scheduled the quarterly project for Madison to help the environment and allow people to earn service hours.

On Nov. 4 at 8:30 a.m., volunteers will gather in Dublin Park’s meeting room for instructions and site location details. Moving to the planting site, volunteers will dig small holes in the loamy, wet dirt and plant 1,600 sapling trees, which the city is furnishing.

“The more people who serve, the less time it will take to complete the planting. Be prepared to get very muddy by wearing old clothes and boots if you have them,” JustServe publicist Wendy Reynolds said.

Standing water, up to one foot deep, may be present in some areas. “Bring your own shovels and gloves if you have them to use as you work alongside other volunteers (but these items are not required in order to serve),” Reynolds said.

Water and snacks will be provided to all participants.
