Genesis Taylor Signs Volleyball Scholarship

MADISON- Genesis Taylor looked back on her four years at James Clemens as rewarding and educational in ways she will always cherish and hold close. The journey of her life recently added an additional chapter as the senior volleyball player signed an athletic scholarship to Wallace State Community College in nearby Hanceville.

“Wallace State is a good fit for me as I didn’t want to play for a D-1 type program during my first two years in college,” said Taylor. “This school has a great nursing program and a good athletic program, too. Besides, it’s not too big and is close to home. While visiting the campus it felt like home.”

Joining the Jets’ program as a freshman, Taylor posted 53 aces, 15 kills and 900 digs in two years of varsity play while playing the libero position, which is a back row specialist.

“Genesis was never scared of the floor throwing her body to save a play,” said Amanda Smith head coach of James Clemens. “I love her confidence and hustle.”

“My parents always pushed me to be better and my coaches always told me I could do it,” added Taylor. “I heard it and believed it.”

Taylor has a 3.8 grade point average and will continue to pursue a nursing degree after her two years at Wallace State and her next step in her life journey.
