Sugar Plum Village filled with Christmas entertainment

MADISON – Sugar Plum Village will offer an entertaining mix of shopping, sweet treats, contests and entertaining activities at Insanity Complex, 100 Skate Park Drive on Dec. 12.

Insanity Complex, City of Madison Parks and Recreation Department and Chick-fil-A are sponsoring the second annual Sugar Plum Village, a family-friendly event for all ages. Deejays from WZYP 104.3 will emcee the activities, which will run from 5 to 8 p.m.

More than 30 vendors will have last-minute Christmas gifts for sale. Vendors also will hand out candy to the youngsters. Boys and girls can bring their own Christmas stockings and stuff them with candy from vendors.

The youngsters will enjoy decorating cookies with Mrs. Claus, making ornaments, playing games and posing for photos with Santa.

Registration for the “Chick-fil-A Ugly Sweater Contest” will run from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Guests can dress in their favorite but tacky Christmas sweater, and judges will decide on the first through third places in each category.

The sweater contests will have age divisions for 12 years old and younger, along with 13 years old and older. Guests must be present to win prizes at 8 p.m.

Roller skating at Sugar Plum Village will be free to anyone who brings a new, unwrapped gift or non-perishable food items. Inside-Out Ministries will be the designated beneficiary of the donations.

In addition, vendors can place decorated booths for shopping in 10-feet-square spaces. Vendors do not have to pay for a booth, but they must sell merchandise or crafts and provide candy for children to stuff their stockings. Setup time will be 5 to 8 p.m.

In the Candy Trail, business owners can set up decorated tables to promote their wares and services. These booth owners also must distribute candy to children at Sugar Plum Village.

Each table or booth will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. All booths and tables must be open and operational by 5 p.m. Vendors must distribute individually wrapped candy for an estimated 500 children.
