Healthy habits breathe life into Horizon Leadership Day

MADISON – At their second annual Leadership Day, Horizon Elementary School students want to demonstrate ways of behavior that have enriched their lives.

Leadership Day is scheduled for March 1 from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. at Horizon.

“Horizon is proud to be participating in ‘The Leader in Me’ program,” Linda Lay said. Lay teaches children in grades K-3 in special education. “This is a program composed of seven different habits, designed to teach leadership and life skills to students, while also creating a culture of empowerment.”

The Leader in Me program uses ‘seven habits for healthy kids’:

* Be proactive.

* Begin with the end in mind.

* Put first things first.

* Think win-win.

* Seek first to understand, then to be understood.

* Synergize.

* Sharpen the saw.

During Leadership Day, the staff and students will showcase just how the seven habits have made an impact on their lives.

“Local business leaders and educators are invited to join us,” Lay said. “Please RSVP no later than Feb. 27 to llay@madisoncity.k12.al.us.”
