Miller named Staff Member of the Year at Bob Jones

MADISON – As registrar at Bob Jones High School, Dotty Miller has helped every student at the school — even if the student and she never met face to face. Miller is the 2018 Staff Member of the Year at Bob Jones.

Miller has worked for Madison City Schools full time for 12 years. She also worked as a substitute teacher for three years on various campuses. Previously, she worked for seven years as an office manager and in community activities for Raytheon at Kwajalein, Marshall Islands.

Bob Jones Principal Sylvia Lambert describes Miller as “kind and helpful. She tirelessly serves students, parents and Bob Jones faculty. She educates us all so we can do our jobs more efficiently.”

Miller earned a secretarial degree at The Berkeley School of Business in White Plains, N.Y.

The Miller family has lived in Madison for 16 years and relocated for Bob Miller to accept a job. He currently works as a communication engineer with Missile Defense Program.

All Bob Jones graduates, their children are Jonathan, who graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology and served 4.5 years in the U.S. Army; David, enrolled at Colorado State University after serving 6.5 years in the Army; and Farrah, a graduate of Mississippi State University.

Dotty has volunteered as Bob Jones Girls Soccer representative for three years. She also served as Topsoccer coach, treasurer and in administrative work. “I sponsored a high school student through the AUM Foundation,” she said.

Which student or teacher that she has met during her career will she never forget? “There have been so many wonderful teachers and students I am having a hard time picking just one,” Dotty said.

Her hobbies include reading, solving puzzles, taking walks and watching very old movies.
