Celebrate the Fourth of July at Dublin

MADISON – Even Uncle Sam himself would salute the full roster of fun activities, games and into-the-night fireworks at Dublin Park on the Fourth of July.

The City of Madison will host 2018 Stars and Stripes Forever July 4th Celebration, starting at 2 p.m. at Dublin.

“The celebration will begin with inflatable activities lined up all around soccer field no. 1,” Gayle Milam said. “Children and adults of all ages can enjoy games, amusements and even try to find their way through an obstacle course that is 70 feet long.” Milam is Event and Volunteer Coordinator for the City of Madison.

“When you get too hot, take a splash down the 62-foot water slide, or sit underneath the giant tent in the shade to cool off,” Milam said. Local merchandisers and volunteer groups will stage exhibits and demonstrations on Dublin’s grounds.

Live entertainment will add to the party atmosphere at the celebration. Anna Grace Beatty will liven up the crowd’s spirit with her brand of rock. Beatty has been entertaining at gigs across North Alabama. (annagracebeatty.com)

Another performer will be Cruze. Band members are Doug Brannon on bass guitar, Jen Brannon on vocals and Mike Cole on lead guitar. Cruze delivers classic rock, along with the Southern style of rock ‘n roll, and country charts.

Special guests for the Fourth of July Celebration will be Nikki’s Wives and Miles Arnell. “Lonely Being Cool” is one chart that Nikki’s Wives has recorded. Arnell was a semifinalist in the 2013 International Songwriting Competition. Arnell’s fortes are pop and rhythm & blues.

Food vendors will be on-site for tasty snacks and cool treats. Partygoers can enter a cornhole tournament with two-person teams; contact Milam at 256-772-9300 to register.

Inflatable activities will be available until 7 p.m. Businesses that are providing games and activities are WZDX; 104.3 WZYP; 94.1 WHRP; and Nash Icon 93.3.

The fireworks show will blast off around 9 p.m.

Guests must park for the event at Bob Jones High School, 650 Hughes Road. The City of Madison will provide shuttle service to and from Dublin Park. Shuttles will start running at 1:45 p.m., and the last pick-up will be 8:45 p.m.

“Following the event and fireworks, the shuttles will take you back to Bob Jones. Handicap parking only will be allowed at Dublin Park,” Milam said.
