MADISON—With three stores currently operating in Huntsville, The Saving Way is set to open its fourth thrift store at 8760 Madison Boulevard, Suite K, in Madison. Store representatives have announced plans to open by Sept. 1.

The revenue generated by The Saving Way supports His Way, a six-month residential Christ-centered recovery program for men struggling with drug and alcohol addiction.

His Way, located on Shields Road in Huntsville, has been operating since 2007 and currently houses 40 residents – an increase of 20 from 2012.

The program offers a wide array of classes for its residents, ranging from biblical ethics to anger management.

“Opening a fourth store is vital in order to sustain the cost of His Way’s continued growth,” said Brenda Newman, The Saving Way’s director of retail operations. “We are excited to open our doors to the people of Madison.”

Newman said opening a store in Madison will also “be more convenient for our customers who live in Madison, Decatur and Athens and drive to one of three of our Huntsville stores to donate and shop.”

The Saving Way opened its first thrift store in 2009.

“It’s not simply about making money,” said Newman. “It also creates an opportunity for churches, businesses and other organizations to help, whether it is simply by donating items or volunteering their time.”

Stores are staffed by paid employees as well as volunteers. Some of His Way’s residents are also employed at The Saving Way stores, giving them an opportunity to develop job skills and re-establish their work history, Newman added.

Items sold in the store vary, and Newman said customers never know what they might find. Whether shoppers are looking for clothes, furniture, household items, sporting goods, tools, books, they will likely find it all at the Saving Way.

The store also sells brand new mattresses in all sizes.

Hours of operation will be Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
