Chamber, city to host downtown tailgate party

MADISON — The Madison Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the City of Madison to put on a Downtown Tailgate Block Party Sept. 7 from 5-7 p.m.

The tailgate will take place before the Bob Jones vs. James Clemens football game. There will be food trucks and entertainment at the family-friendly event.

Carly Moffa will provide the evening’s musical entertainment with a live performance at Old Black Bear.

In addition to the fun, the chamber will also have a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new improvements to the downtown area on Martin Street.

Some of the downtown shops and restaurants will also be open during the tailgate. The following are a few that will be open:

Jacklyn’s Keepsakes: 108 Main St.

“Jacklyn’s Keepsakes has been in downtown Madison for 12 years. We carry the best of both worlds, old and new items. Also, we have a lot of home interior items to choose from by CWS and local art by Lisa Ricardo Studios. Our candles are the best your nose will ever smell! Come see us.”

Hook a Frog Fiber and Fun: 105 C Church St.

“We are a local yarn store. We have numerous types of yarns, hooks, and needles for crocheting and knitting. From the beginner to those with years of experience, we have something in store for you!”

Zion Popcorn: 104 Main St.

The chamber is asking all businesses in the downtown area to write a small blurb about themselves for the event. These blurbs can be emailed to Kendyl Hollingsworth at kendyl.hollingsworth@madisoncountyrecord.com or Samantha Magnuson at samantha.magnuson@madisonal.gov.
