King seeking election to Alabama House, District 10

MADISON – J.B. King is running for Alabama House, District 10.

“This is the first time in 16 years the people in District 10 have a choice who represents them in the Alabama State House,” King said. District 10 includes Madison, Huntsville and Triana.

A native Alabamian, he works as an engineer at Northrop Grumman.

“I want to work for every citizen of this state to ensure they have economic opportunities that can help them maintain their lifestyle,” King said. “I want to ensure we provide the kinds of new opportunities that will keep young Alabamians in this state (with) modern careers that can compete in a global economy right from home.”

He believes Alabamians deserve a choice in the State House. “We cannot continue to be beholden to one political party that is so certain of victory,” he said.

His platform considers several important issues:

* Rebuilding our workforce — “As a software and systems engineer, I’ve had the privilege of working on both cutting-edge and longstanding technology. To build the Alabama in which I believe my future grandchildren can thrive, we must focus on creating opportunities for modern jobs in this state,” King said.

He wants to establish relationships with companies to sell and deliver ‘Made in Alabama’ products globally.

* Ensuring affordable healthcare innovatively — “I’ve lost loved ones to preventable diseases simply because they received either no or subpar care. Alabama must step up to the challenge of improving healthcare for its citizens,” King said.

* Investing in education — King’s three children attend Alabama public schools. “I want the best for them … This requires representation that will fight for every teacher (to have) the salary, facilities, tools and flexibility … to meet ever-changing student needs,” he said.

A Mobile native, King earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering at the University of Alabama. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in information technology – web design from University of Phoenix and graduate certificates from University of Southern California and Missouri University of Science and Technology.

During his career, King has worked in various positions related to software and systems engineering on several major U.S. development and sustainment programs.
