Volunteers rappel ‘Over the Top’ for Kids to Love

HUNTSVILLE – Kids to Love is taking its fundraising ‘sky high’ by partnering with “Over the Edge” for a thrilling way to support the organization.

In the Over the Edge event, volunteers will rappel 160 feet down from the rooftop of the Regions Center high-rise in downtown Huntsville. Each volunteer has made a commitment to contribute or raise $1,000 for Kids to Love.

“You can have this once-in-a-lifetime thrill and do something awesome that will impact thousands of youth living in foster care,” Kids to Love spokesperson Meredith Payne said. More than 90 rappellers have signed up for ‘the plunge,’ and approximately 1,000 donors have contributed in this fundraiser.

Kids to Love, a 501(c)3-approved foundation, was founded in 2004 and has helped more than 200,000 foster children by rescuing them and meeting their daily needs. Lee Marshall Founder and CEO of Kids to Love, is a former foster and adoptive child herself. Marshall, the staff and volunteers work diligently to improve quality of life for children waiting for adoption.

The event opens on Sept. 21 at 4 p.m. with the VIP Drop Party. “Come out and cheer on your favorite VIP,” Payne said. On Sept. 22, the rappellers will go into action at 8 a.m. and continue to 2 p.m.

Ashley Davis, Marketing Consultant with “Madison Living” and “The Madison Record,” has joined the rappellers to support the work of Kids to Love.

Companies can sponsor a team of up to four rappellers for a commitment of $5,000. The company will set up a team fundraising page on Kids to Love’s website.

“Afraid of heights? Consider this: Facing your fears in our fun and safe environment. Our kids are counting on YOU,” Payne said.

Additional sponsorship opportunities are available.

Kids to Love’s office address is 140 Castle Drive in Madison. For more information, call 256-880-3455, email Meredith@kidstolove.org or visit kidstolove.org or Facebook/Kids to Love.
