James Clemens Band to host annual ‘Sounds of the Stadium’ event Nov. 8

MADISON — The James Clemens High School band will be back at it again Nov. 8 with their seventh annual “Sounds of the Stadium” event. The band will provide the public with musical entertainment from their marching show and stands tunes in the JCHS auditorium starting at 7 p.m.

The event will top off a semester of football games and marching band competitions.

Members of the Liberty Middle School band will be joining the Jets at the event to perform some of their own fall music as well, according to Meredith Clark, who works public relations for the James Clemens Band Booster Board.

This year, the JC band will show off their talents with popular tunes “I’ve Got Rhythm,” “Summertime” and “Rhapsody in Blue” by American composer George Gershwin. These three songs comprise the marching band’s 2018 halftime show, “Days of Blue.” The stands tunes will consist of songs that the band plays during football games.

As usual, there will be a silent auction and selection of free desserts following the show.

“The silent auction, with desserts served, is a mass array of items donated from businesses throughout the area and parents,” Clark said. “The money raised directly supports the band program.”

Megan Moore, chairwoman of the Sounds of the Stadium event, said the auction and desserts will be held in the cafeteria. A list of items up for grabs in the auction includes:

  • A week stay at a Smoky Mountain time share in the Gatlinburg area
  • Marriott Shoals Hotel & Spa 1-night stay
  • Movie passes to Cineplanet 15 in Madison
  • Tire Discounters Rotate, Balance & Oil Change
  • The Dance Company 1-month tuition
  • Portrait session with Marla Laramie
  • Miscellaneous themed baskets, such as Alabama, Auburn, Family Movie Night and Restaurant gift cards

Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. To buy advance tickets, contact James Clemens High School at 256-216-5313.
