AYSO United treats police, fire staff

MADISON – During the holidays, players in AYSO United Alabama remembered individuals who often work while their family and friends are celebrating without them.

AYSO United players had a great time showing our support for the local community and for public safety,” Joe Mullins said. He serves as Club Administrator for AYSO United Alabama.

Players in AYSO United, the club arm of AYSO, teamed up with Chuck Wagon BBQ of Madison to confirm that police and fire departments enjoyed a good meal while on duty during the holiday season. AYSO United helped deliver to 10 locations in and around Huntsville and Madison.

“AYSO United will always support local business and local community first,” Mullins said.

Established in 2008, Chuck Wagon BBQ is a family owned and operated business. Mike Holley and son Stephen Holley run restaurants in Madison and Huntsville. They specialize in Texas style BBQ. After 800-plus reviews, Chuck Wagon averaged 4.7 stars, Mullins said.

AYSO United was organized as a new sports organization for this region in late 2017. “AYSO United – North Alabama encourages boys and girls to try out,” Mullins said.

In 2016, AYSO opened 17 club-level programs across the country. “With much support from AYSO National, Alabama Soccer Association and local volunteers, we were proud of AYSO United – North Alabama,” Mullins said.

The organization’s mission is “Development Over Winning,” which means that each player will have 50 percent playing time, Mullins said. AYSO United – North Alabama has locations in Madison, Huntsville, Arab, Cullman, Hartselle, Danville, Athens, Guntersville and surrounding communities.

“Our club is committed to providing our players with the opportunity to play against other club programs the AYSO way,” Mullins said. “We are committed to quality coaching and a positive experience.”
