Car show, festival to attract fans and families at Asbury

MADISON – Asbury United Methodist Church at 980 Hughes Road will celebrate the new season with the 2019 Community Car Show and Spring Festival on April 6.

“This year, two of the most anticipated annual events at Asbury are combining to create an incredibly fun experience for families and car enthusiasts,” Asbury Pastor of Engagement Chris Knox said.

Event hours will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is free, and spectators will receive free food.

“The entire community is invited to check out an awesome display of vintage cars, hot-rods, muscle cars, imports and more, plus tons of fun inflatables and activities for preschool through elementary-age kids, from obstacle courses to face decorating and even the Big Green Bus,” Knox said.

“We have a passion for engaging with families in the community, and this event is a great way to bring everyone together. When people come to Asbury’s campus, it’s our hope that they’ll experience a warm welcome and get to know their neighbors while having fun.”

Spectators can vote from 10 a.m. to noon. Around 1 p.m., owners will receive 22 trophies in three categories:

* First, second and third places in classes for 1940 and older, 1941-1960, 1961-1990, and 1991 to newer models.
* First and second places for Favorite Motorcycle, Favorite Truck and Kids’ Choice.
* Furthest Traveled, Best Club Participation, ‘Dog’ of the Show and Overall Favorite.

Sponsorship opportunities for local businesses also are available.

Car enthusiasts can register their vehicles at weareasbury.com/carfest. Registration fees support the Asbury Oil Change Ministry for that service, along with routine maintenance and basic auto repair for single women, widows and spouses of deployed military personnel in the community.

Each car show entrant will receive tickets for door prize giveaways.

Car show vehicles will set up on the campus’ north side. Spectators can park on Asbury’s south lots.
