Mountain Lakes tourist group honors Honeycutt
MADISON – Alabama Mountain Lakes Tourist Association has honored a Madison personality as a North Alabama Elite Tourism Professional.
Pam Honeycutt, Executive Director of Madison Chamber of Commerce, earned the recognition as a tourism promoter who demonstrates outstanding customer service and hospitality in the 16-county region of North Alabama that the association represents.
Alabama Mountain Lakes Tourist Association presented the awards during National Travel and Tourism Week.
During the past 20-plus years, Honeycutt has worked in the communications arena with experience in marketing, public relations and corporate communications. She has trained others for leadership and development skills and has coached numerous corporate executives in presentation skills.
Pam graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology or Georgia Tech with Highest Honors and received a bachelor’s degree in management and a minor in industrial psychology. Honeycutt has four children — Chase, Miranda, Lauren and Drew.
Other Madison County professionals who received the honor are Teresa Taylor White with Yedla Management and Regina Burnett with Grille 29.
“The North Alabama Elite Tourism Professional award recognizes those members who go above and beyond in their service, involvement and engagement with visitors to the North Alabama region,” association president/CEO Tami Reist.
“North Alabama’s travel and tourism industry is seeing tremendous economic impacts and growth in job numbers as a direct result of these ladies’ leadership skills and commitment to enhancing the travel and tourism experience,” Reist said.
Travel generated $15.5 billion for Alabama’s economy in 2018. Visitors support more than 198,000 American jobs, according to association records.
In North Alabama, the travel industry generated $2.93 billion in tourist expenditures. Travel and tourism generated more than 35,000 jobs and in 2018 more than $954 million in state and local tax revenues.
A nonprofit organization, Alabama Mountain Lakes Tourist Association serves Blount, Cherokee, Colbert, Cullman, DeKalb, Etowah, Franklin, Jackson, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Marion, Marshall, Morgan and Winston counties.
