Alliance selects Kula’s photographic designs for D.C. exhibit

MADISON – The Alliance for Young Artists & Writers has chosen photographic work by Casey Kula for display with Art.Write.Now.DC in Washington, D.C.

Kula’s work, “Let there be Giants,” qualified for the prestigious exhibit. Kula attended Bob Jones High School. The alliance recognizes and promotes students’ talent in fine arts and provides scholarship opportunities to exceptional U.S. students and international schools in grades 7-12.

Art.Write.Now.DC brings student art and writing to government agency offices in the nation’s capital. The exhibit features a selection of artwork and designs of National Medalist works from the 2019 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.

The National Endowment for the Arts also supports this endeavor.

Kula’s work was displayed first in the offices of the Institute of Museum and Library Services or IMLS in September. Her photography will remain on exhibit through Aug. 14, 2020.

“Casey Kula’s work represents the voices of our nation’s youth today and will make an impression on the institute’s staff who strives to empower America’s museums and libraries through grant making, research and policy development,” Christopher Wisniewski said. Wisniewski serves as Executive Director of Alliance for Young Artists and Writers.

Brandy Panagos, who teaches creative writing and multimedia studies at Bob Jones, mentored and instructed Kula while she was a Bob Jones student. To celebrate Kula and Panagos, “our friends at the Department of Education are hosting a special ceremony on Oct. 25 in Washington D.C.,” Wisniewski said.

“Your art is hanging in offices where people work and is not open to the general public. The best time to view your work on display will be at a special viewing following the ceremony,” Wisniewski said to Kula.

Wisniewski thanked Kula for “sharing your work with us and with the world.”

In honors at Bob Jones, Casey Kula earned prestigious Gold Key awards with the 2019 Scholastic Alliance for Young Artists and Writers. Kula’s creations in mixed media and photography impressed the judging panel. She also earned honorable mentions for photography and dramatic script.

In addition, Kula was an active contributor/writer for “Patriot Pages” (bjhspatriotpages.com) at Bob Jones. She also participated and helped in organizing study options for Patriot Path sessions for students.
