Fire at Madison apartments displaces multiple families

UPDATE FROM MADISON FIRE AND RESCUE: The Fire Marshal’s Office is ruling the fire as accidental, but they have not determined a cause. We are unable to say if any other units had working smoke alarms, but we do know that the apartment damaged by fire, DID have functioning smoke alarms. This investigation is going to be an ongoing process, and we appreciate your patience in this matter.

 

MADISON – Multiple families were displaced after a fire damaged several apartment units at Magnolia Pointe apartments on Madison Pike early Wednesday morning.

The Madison Fire and Rescue said they received a call around midnight. They said heavy flames and smoke could be seen well before the firefighters arrival.

“Our firefighters acted very quickly and contained the fire to the apartment of origin,” a spokesperson for the fire department said. “Other apartments received water and smoke damage. No human injuries were reported, but one dog unfortunately did not make it out.”

Residents in 16 units were reportedly displaced because of the fire. The Red Cross was called in to assist the families.

The cause is being investigated by the the Fire Marshals office.
