Clayton represents Alabama administrators for Principals Month

MADISON – To recognize dedication of the state’s school leaders, Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey signed a proclamation that designated October as Principals Month.

Principals and members of Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools or CLAS from around the state attended the signing to accept the proclamation.

Dr. Brian Clayton, Principal of James Clemens High School, represented principals of secondary-level schools at the meeting in Montgomery.

Members of the Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools invited residents from all over the state to join them in recognizing the essential role that principals play in school achievement and student success.

“Studies show that principal leadership is second only to strong instruction when it comes to impacting student achievement. (Principals Month) is a time to celebrate the hard work and dedication of principals across Alabama,” Vic Wilson said

local elected officials the numerous ways that good principals enhance their school communities.

Shadowing visits provide opportunities for policymakers and members of Congress to experience firsthand the role and r. Wilson serves as CLAS Executive Director.

Parents, teachers, students and school systems all scheduled time to honor their principals and celebrate the great work principals do every day. By hosting shadowing visits, Alabama principals have been showing state and esponsibilities of principals and the needs of public schools.

National Principals Month is an initiative of the National Association of Secondary School Principals or NASSP and the National Association of Elementary School Principals or NAESP.
