How Madison County voted: Sessions and Tuberville head to runoff
HUNTSVILLE – The Super Tuesday primaries are now behind us, but the most watched race affecting the state still has not been decided. Former U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions will face football coach Tommy Tuberville in a GOP runoff on March 31 as he tries to regain the U.S. Senate seat he held for 20 years in Alabama.
The winner of the March 31 runoff will face Democratic Sen. Doug Jones in November.
Statewide, Sessions garnered 31.61% of the vote while Tuberville captured 33.41%.
In Madison County, voters gave Sessions 23,674 votes or 47.23% and Tuberville 12,504 or 24.94%.
Bradley Byrne, who spent considerable time campaigning in the Madison and Huntsville area came in third with 19.02% of the votes in Madison County.

Out of 285,496 registered voters in Madison County, 96,758 people voted — 45,140 Democrats and 51,174 Republications. The voter turnout was 33.89%.
