Circuit Clerk Debra Kizer issues notice regarding voting by absentee ballot

MADISON COUNTY – Madison County Circuit Clerk Debra Kizer released the following statement concerning the postponed primary runoff election for GOP U.S. Senate and absentee voting:

Yesterday in a joint press conference featuring Governor Kay Ivey, Secretary of State John Merrill, and Attorney General Steve Marshall, the March 31 Runoff Election was postponed until July 14.  Since the Madison County Courthouse is closed until further notice due to the COVID-19, voters may opt to vote by absentee ballot and must apply for an absentee ballot via mail.

Absentee ballot applications that have already been successfully submitted for the March 31 election will be valid for the July 14, 2020 Runoff Election.  In-person absentee voting will take place again once the courthouse is reopened.  Until that time, the Application for Absentee Ballot can be located online at:

The Application for Absentee Ballot along with a photocopy of a valid state-issued photo I.D. must be mailed to:

Huntsville, AL  35801

Requests for an absentee ballot must be received by Thursday, July 9, 2020.  Voted absentee ballots must be returned by Monday, July 13, 2020.

Monday, 6/29 – Last day to register to vote

Thursday, 7/9  – Last day to apply for an absentee ballot

Monday, 7/13 – Last day to hand-deliver or postmark an absentee ballot

Tuesday, 7/14 – Runoff Election
