Three vehicle burglary suspects caught with stolen vehicle, drugs

MADISON – While patrolling the area of Slaughter Road and Foy Drive early Monday morning, an alert Madison Police officer noticed multiple subjects inside a vehicle parked at a residence.

“Two subjects fled on foot at the same time a vehicle was seen leaving the area,” said MPD community relations officer Teresa Taylor-Duncan. “After a brief pursuit, the vehicle was stopped with three occupants inside.”

Officer Taylor-Duncan said additional officers responded to the original scene and noted that several vehicles had been entered and rummaged through. After investigating further, it was discovered that the occupied vehicle had been reported stolen the day before. Marijuana and narcotics inside the vehicle.

The names of the suspects have not been released. Two are juveniles.

All three suspects were arrested and charged with multiple crimes, said Officer Taylor-Duncan.

She added that residents need to make sure their vehicle doors are locked. Most of the vehicle break-ins have simply been criminals opening an unlocked door.

In a separate case, three Madison County residents were arrested last week after breaking and entering a series of vehicles in Decatur and Priceville, police said.

Ruby Ingram, 35, and Jacob Ingram, 18, of Huntsville; and Alonzo Hewitt, 18, of Harvest, were each charged with five counts of breaking and entering a vehicle. Three of the counts for each suspect were filed by Decatur police and the other two counts were made by Priceville police, reports show.

All three were being in the Morgan County Jail with bail set at $12,500.

Chief Jernigan said several vehicles have also been broken into in the Madison area recently. It is unknown at this time if these suspects may also be tied to those cases.
