Madison County picks up 22 new cases of COVID-19 today

We are not out of the woods yet. The number of COVID-19 cases in Madison County increased significantly today, with 22 new cases since 9 a.m. this morning. It now stands at 216 with four confirmed deaths from the illness. This morning there was 194 cases. Limestone County now has 40 cases and no deaths.

There are a total of 4,571 cases of COVID-19 in Alabama, according to the ADPH as of Friday, April 17, at 5 p.m. There are currently 692,169 cases of COVID-19 nationwide, with 36,721 deaths and 58,437 recovered, according to Johns Hopkins University.

Statewide there have been 12 new reported deaths today. Of 149 deaths reported statewide, 96 have been confirmed as due to the virus across the state by the ADPH. The department also reports 594 total hospitalizations due to COVID-19.
