UPDATE: Sheriff’s department investigating deadly shooting

UPDATE: MCSO investigators have identified Jonathan Marquis Burrell, 31, of 120 Gibbon Lane as the victim in the shooting incident that occurred overnight.

A female subject from the Gibbon Lane address called 911 at approximately 11:50 pm last night and reported that she needed help after her ex-fiancé was present and had attacked her. MCSO units responded to the scene at which time the victim was found deceased from a gunshot wound.

The motive of the shooting appears to be domestic violence-related. There is a previous history of domestic violence abuse as well as violation of protection orders from abuse by Burrell.

The sheriff’s office stated once the investigation is complete, the report will be handed over to the Madison County District Attorneys Office to be presented to a Grand Jury. ‬
