Heat advisory starting at noon today through tomorrow evening

MADISON – The US National Weather Service in Huntsville has placed the Madison and Huntsville area under a heat advisory from noon today through 7 p.m. tomorrow. Heat indexes between 100 to 105 are expected.

If you must be outside, drink plenty of water, wear light, loose clothing, use sunscreen, take frequent breaks inside or in the shade, check on elderly family members and neighbors, and watch for the signs of heat stroke/heat exhaustion.

Huntsville Utilities are reminding their customers to keep their energy consumption low, close curtains and blinds on windows facing the sun, turn off unneeded lights, use ceiling fans, and don’t run heat-generating appliances (washing machine, dryer, stove, dishwasher) during the heat of the day.

Stay cool and stay safe!
