Severe weather from Laura expected this afternoon and evening
MADISON – The National Weather Service in Huntsville says strong to severe storms capable of producing damaging wind gusts and a couple tornadoes this afernoon and tonight from Tropical Depression Laura.
According to the Weather Service, heavy rainfall and possible flash flooding are also expected in areas of North Alabama. “Extra moisture in the soils will make it easier for trees and power lines to fall in any wind gusts, even sub-severe gusts,” the Weather Service said.
The brunt of the impact from Laurea will most likely occur this afternoon and evening, but severe storms are possible all day. A Flash Flood Watch is in effect through Saturday morning at 5 a.m. for Northwest Alabama, including Limestone County.
