James Clemens returns to campus Sept. 28, Bob Jones on Oct. 12

MADISON – Superintendent Dr. Ed Nichols released new information on Sept. 23 about Madison City School’s strategy for virtual versus on-campus learning.

“I want to update you on a change to our middle and high school schedules starting next week (week of Sept. 28). Our school-based learners in middle school will come off the A/B rotation and begin a full five-day weekly schedule starting Sept. 28,” Nichols said.

James Clemens will begin an A/B rotation for school-based learners starting Sept. 28. Wednesdays will be a virtual day. Students with last names A-K will attend Mondays and Thursdays, while students with names L-Z attending on Tuesdays and Fridays.

“We have made a decision to delay the return of students to Bob Jones until Oct. 12, after the fall break. This is due to the number of quarantined staff members,” Nichols said. “Our school staff, administrators and nursing team are doing a great job of monitoring the situation for the health and safety of our students, employees and families.”

Nichols will release weekly updates on Fridays with COVID-19 numbers within the school district. “We are working diligently to get all of our students back to daily school-based instruction,” Nichols said.

In addition, the virus outbreak has caused some changes to James Clemens’ homecoming on Sept. 25. Lee High School in Huntsville was forced to forfeit the game because some Lee players tested positive for COVID-19. The Jets will play Briarwood Christian School of Birmingham.

Game tickets for the home side have sold out; tickets are still available for the visitor side. Officials urge spectators to buy tickets online and in advance.

The Jets 2020 Homecoming Court includes these students:

* Seniors – Hayden Clift, Blake Engelkemier, John Mark Ingalls, Laura Kennedy, Claire Kim, Adrian Lai, Cian McFarland, Trung Nguyen, Alex Pharo, Jackson Quarles, Julia Reis, Abigail Ryder, Alexandria Vaughn.

* Juniors – Aniyah Alexander, Allison Arzonico, Quincy Bowie, Sebastian Davis, Sohan Mynampally, Alexa Robinson, Noah Salvador, Ella Weaver.

* Sophomores – Madalyn Bolden, Luke Boseck, Connor Douglass, Hailey Froncowiak, Elizabeth Swaine.

* Freshman – Bhavya Chalasani, Logan Eggart, Luca Fufori, Mackenzie Payne.
