Crestwood names Kristina Goodwin as Chief Nursing Officer

MADISON – Kristina Goodwin of Madison is applying her extensive and impressive experience in medicine as Chief Nursing Officer at Crestwood Medical Center.

Goodwin, a certified and registered nurse practitioner, has 16 years of nursing experience. Since 2014, she has worked at Crestwood with ever-expanding responsibilities including Director of Critical Care and Cardiovascular Services; Senior Director of Nursing Services; and Assistant Chief Nursing Officer.

Before Crestwood, Goodwin gained expertise in cardiology and vascular surgery offices, along with emergency services as a nurse practitioner and as a nurse in surgical trauma for an Intensive Care Unit.

Goodwin received both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. She holds certification as a family nurse practitioner.

Goodwin replaces Susan Bryce, who is retiring. With Crestwood for 15-plus years, Bryce served as Chief Nursing Officer since 2017. During her tenure, Bryce achieved notable goals including continuous Joint Commission accreditation, multiple awards for Center of Excellence in various service lines and recognition for patient experience. Recently, Bryce was recognized as one of Alabama’s Top 10 Nurses.

Pam Hudson, Chief Executive Officer at Crestwood Medical Center, said the organization will miss Bryce “and her incredible leadership. The Chief Nursing Officer position in a hospital is one of the most important factors in the hospital team (providing) consistent, safe, quality care and is the main partner with the medical staff to assure coordinated care by a competent clinical team.”

Bryce was instrumental in identifying Goodwin as a successor. “Kristina Goodwin has an excellent partnership with our medical staff and has an attitude that ‘what must be done can be done,’” Hudson said. “Goodwin’s leadership was critical during the pandemic, always intent on exceptional care standards to keep patients and staff safe.”

Goodwin and her husband Brian live in Madison with their two children.

Crestwood Medical Center offers a 180-bed, full-service acute care hospital with the latest medical advancements and surgical and diagnostic procedures while providing compassionate care.
