Phillip Rigsby announces candidacy for Alabama State Representative District 25

HUNTSVILLE – Huntsville business owner and pharmacist Phillip Rigsby is throwing his name in the hat to replace State House Speaker Mac McCutcheon next year.  Rigsby is running for Alabama State Representative District 25 in the May 24, 2022 Republican primary.

Speaker McCutcheon currently represents 25th District which includes Madison and Limestone Counties. Speaker McCutcheon announced that he will not be seeking another term.

“My family and I prayed about this decision.  We are certain now is the right time in my life and I want to serve the citizens of this district. I want to be found faithful by God that I loved my neighbor by selflessly serving and representing them well,” Rigsby said. “Just like hard working families live within their means and balance their check book, so should our government. I will cut the wasteful spending and demand accountability. I will keep our economy moving in the right direction by working with our local and state leaders on recruiting jobs to North Alabama. Protecting our conservative values is crucial. I will stand up for our 2nd Amendment rights, protect the unborn, and fight against the liberal policies that are being pushed upon us. It’s time to make our voices loud and clear against the cancel culture.”

Rigsby praised McCutcheon’s work in representing District 25, saying: “He has served our community and led our State with the highest standards. I have the utmost respect, appreciation, and admiration for him. I want to carry on the legacy and groundwork he has laid for our district. As your next Representative I will make sure we continue to receive our fair share of funding from Montgomery for our roads, infrastructure, and schools.”

A native to Huntsville, Rigsby graduated from SR Butler High School in 1994. He then attended Auburn University and completed pharmacy school with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2000. He returned to our area and started his career working for Kroger Pharmacy. In 2004 he began working at Huntsville Compounding Pharmacy and The Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy. He later purchased both in 2015 and continues to work as a pharmacist at both locations.

“Pharmacists are among the most trusted professions in America.  As a pharmacist, I have learned to listen to my patient’s issues, even when it seemed no one else would.  As a compounding pharmacist, I can think outside of the box to become an advocate and problem solver for them.  I will take these skills to District 25 and listen to the people,” said Rigsby.

Rigsby has served as president of both the Madison County Pharmacy Association and the Harrison School of Pharmacy Alumni Association. He currently serves on the board of directors for the Pharmacy Owners Alliance. He served as PTA president at Monrovia Elementary School.  He was a Cubmaster for Troop 8 at Monrovia Elementary. He serves as a volunteer fireman and EMT with Monrovia Fire and Rescue. Since joining the department in 2004, he has served as a Captain, EMT educator, CPR instructor and has recently begun serving as the Chaplain. He is a Youth Sunday School Teacher, Youth Leader and Worship Music Leader at Providence Baptist Church. He also is the stadium announcer for varsity football games at Westminster Christian Academy.

Phillip married his wife Pamela in 1998. She was a special education teacher at Sparkman High School.  She currently works with the Westminster athletic department facilitating concessions and she works as a pharmacy technician when needed at their pharmacies. Pamela also serves on the board of directors for a local non-profit organization, Next Step Farms, serving adults with special needs. Their son Preston is 19 and will be a sophomore at The University of Alabama. He is studying marketing with aspirations to attend law school. Parker is 16 and will be a senior at Westminster Christian Academy. They are founding members of Providence Baptist Church.
