Winslow Davis Ensemble scheduled for Let There Be Music, Madison!

MADISON – A unique group of talented musicians will perform at the next concert installment for “Let There Be Music, Madison!” on Aug. 19.

The music will start at 6 p.m. on Old Black Bear’s patio at 212 Main St. in downtown Madison. Parking is available on Main Street and on Martin Street, one street south of Main. AMT Integrated Solutions is the presenting sponsor for Let There Be Music, Madison.

To perpetuate live music downtown, Madison Arts Council and Madison Visionary Partners are working as partners to raise funds for Home Place Park, the new venue for future music events.

“The Winslow Davis Ensemble is more than just a violin, guitar, bass, keys and drums. It’s a fusion of stories that twist together and cry out to be heard as one, layering textures of rock and soul into a captivating musical conversation,” according to Davis’ website. (winslowdavis.com)

Current members of the ensemble include Cameron Fish on drums, John Knox on electric guitar, Mike McAlister on bass and Zeb Worlund on keyboard. Davis started playing electric violin in 2012 and quickly mastered his music in a “unique blend of emotion and curiosity to each performance.” (winslowdavis.com)

Since he was 11 years old, Davis “had wrestled with both a passion and fear of his musical ability,” according to the website. Originally, he decided to learn about the violin just for fun, but his talent soon took him into a more public statement of his art. He organized the Winslow Davis Ensemble in 2013.

As a solo artist, Davis entertains at weddings across North Alabama, art festivals and corporate events. His ensemble stands as the anchor of gigs at restaurants, bars and museum events.

The ensemble draws from an eclectic repertoire. Davis’ original pieces build in layers for the audience to enjoy. In addition, the group can cover an array of tunes from musicians across the decades, ranging from George Gershwin to B.B. King, Goo Goo Dolls to the Rolling Stones, along with contemporaries like Christina Perri, Bruno Mars, Coldplay, Dave Matthews and John Legend.

Released in 2013, Davis’ first CD features both solo and ensemble pieces. He hopes to return to the recording studio soon to capture the ensemble’s most current original music.

Winslow Davis’ recent itinerary has included Green Street Market, Freight House Restaurant, Humphrey’s and The Open Bottle.

The group’s mailing address is Winslow Davis Music, P.O. Box 294, Harvest, AL 35749. For more information, call 256-783-8015, email Winslow@WinslowDavis.com or visit winslowdavis.com.
