Jets win season opener against Murphy 32-0

James Clemens football came out of the gate running Friday night to make a big statement. They traveled to Mobile to face the 7A Murphy Panthers, who went 5-5 overall last season.

Under first year head coach, Chad McGehee, the Jets racked up 25 points by halftime on their way to a 32-0 win to open the 2021 season.

To begin the James Clemens scoring this season, Aaron Rowe (K-P, 5-10, 180, Sr.) kicked a field goal early in the first quarter. That was followed by a 25 yard rushing touchdown by Cameron Berry (RB, CB, Fr.) with about two minutes left before the second quarter. Kobe Johnson (WR, 5-10, 160, Sr.) then rushed for a two point conversion giving the Jets 11 points to end the opening quarter.

Berry again added a seven-yard rushing touchdown late in the second quarter with one minute left to go before the half. Rowe added the extra point.

The Jets then turned around and their third touchdown of the night with a two yard dash by Jonny Ross (CB, WR, 5- 2, 120, Fr.) after a blocked punt. Rowe again added the PAT, giving the Jets 25 unanswered points to open the third quarter.

Dante Snodgrass (RB, 5-8, 165, Sr.) added the last TD of the night with a two-yard rush, followed by a Rowe PAT, bringing the final score to 32-0.

Quarterback Gio Lopez (QB, 5-10, 180, Jr.) was named the night’s “Player of the Game”.
