Sectional Track Meet- Array Of Talent Led By James Clemens

MADISON- The winning ways continue for the James Clemens track program. The Jets’ boys squad won the Class 7A Section 4 championship for the second straight year and the five of the last eight seasons while the girls took the runner-up trophy after wins five of the last eight track seasons. Both Bob Jones and Sparkman fared well in their quests for perfection and a chance to qualify for the upcoming AHSAA State Championships.

The final team scoring included: Class 7A Boys- 1. James Clemens 170.5, 2 Huntsville 164.5, 3. Bob Jones 101, 4. Sparkman 73; Girls- 1. Huntsville 155.5, 2. James Clemens 133.75, 3. Sparkman 131, 4. Bob Jones 102.

The top five performers from each event qualified for the State Meet. Individually, James Clemens took home four gold medals, while Bob Jones and Sparkman had five each. Here are the medal finishers:

Class 4A- Boys: 4×100- 3. Madison Academy, 43.48; discus- John English, 12, Madison Academy, 132-00; javelin- 1. Noah Olberding, 12, Madison Academy, 161-10; shot put- 1. John English, 12, Madison Academy, 51-09.50.

The Sectional event was hosted by James Clemens with 27 schools and over 1000 athletes taking part. The two-day event was possible due to the over 50 volunteers including the James Clemens ROTC. The meet was led by Drew Bell, head coach of James Clemens.
