Robert Bailey, author of ‘The Professor,’ to appear at Madison library

MADISON – Mystery lovers and other mature readers soon can engage in thoughtful conversation with a local author who will visit Madison Public Library.

The High Octane Book Club invites residents to meet local author Robert Bailey, who is known for writing legal thrillers including “The Professor” and the Bocephus Haynes series. Bailey has the distinction of “Wall Street Journal” Bestselling Author.

The session is scheduled for June 7 at 6:30 p.m. Guests will gather in Auditorium 2.

Bailey believes that “any story, whether thriller or not, must have an emotional hook. Something that makes the reader climb on board for the journey. A lot of times that hook is identifying with a character and what he/she is going through or the situation he/she faces.”

Bailey grew up in Huntsville with his parents, a builder and a schoolteacher, respectively. As a toddler, he enjoyed stories, with a special interest in Paul ‘Bear’ Bryant and Alabama football.

At Davidson College in Davidson, N.C., Bailey earned a bachelor’s degree in history. He received the Juris Doctor degree at the University of Alabama, where he achieved Law Review.

Since 2000, Bailey has worked as a civil defense trial lawyer in Huntsville. He and wife Dixie are parents of three children.

Bailey’s next thriller, “Rich Blood,” is slated for release on Sept. 1. His new book will be first in a series set on Lake Guntersville in Marshall County, Ala. and will spotlight lawyer Jason Rich, who is facing life-changing conflicts.

Geared for adults, the High Octane Book Club focuses on readers who enjoy books by David Baldacci, Ruth Ware and other suspense/thriller writers. This group meets at Madison Public Library.
