Pitmaster BBQ Supply to host ‘Competition Steak Class’

MADISON – Pitmaster BBQ Supply, owned by Clint Myshrall and based in Madison, will present the Steak Cookoff Association’s “Newcomers Competition Steak Class” on May 21.

The event “is an introduction into the world of competitive steak cooking,” Myshrall said. “Ever wanted to venture into the fast-growing world of competitive steak cooking? Come join our class as we go over the different skills needed to give yourself the advantage.”

“You will also save time and money by learning these techniques from an award-winning SCA cook and not having to learn from countless mistakes at a competition,” Myshrall said. “Grab your seat to learn the ins and outs of SCA Competition cooking.”

The class on May 21 will run from 2 to 5 p.m. The venue will be Straight to Ale, 3rd Circle Cellars at 2610 Clinton Ave. W. in Huntsville.

The class instructor will be Ron Stephens, nicknamed “Ronnie Ribeye.” Stephens has completed in Food Sports since 2008. An award-winning SCA Steak Cook, Stephens has won numerous awards in professional barbecue and competed three times in the World Food Championships.

In 2022, he competed in 25 SCA events and won four. Ron also qualified for 2023 SCA World Championships in Fort Worth, Texas, where he advanced to the finals. He then competed in Fort Worth’s Cowtown Classic and tied for third place among 120 cooks.

At the Newcomers Competition Steak Class, a ticket will include class admission, snacks, drinks and one free draft beer (must be 21 years old). Participants also will receive a 20-percent discount code for products at the class and for the next 30 days for purchases with pitmasterbbqsupply.com.

In the class, students will develop a competition timeline, select and prep a steak and learn the flavor profiles that win. Other topics will include grills; charcoal and cooking essentials; fire management; grilling techniques; finishing the steak, turn-in strategies; and a sampling of different flavor profiles.

The fee for the Newcomers Competition Steak Class is $125.

Myshrall plans to conduct his second “Introduction to Competition BBQ Class” at the end of July.
