Tim Coleman- National Top 20 Long Snapper

MADISON- James Clemens’ starting center Tim Coleman has been officially ranked as No. 20 among the class of 2025 of long snappers from across the country. The 5-foot-11, 220-pound junior attended the Rubio Long Snapping Underclassmen Invitational in July and his ranking from that two-day event held in Los Angeles has been labeled a 4.5-Star putting him among the 20 best in the United States.

His latest ranking comes after his last evaluation in Oct. of 2022 where he was ranked No. 46.

“I can feel confident I can compete with any others from across the country,” said Coleman. “I started when I was a sophomore and I’ve attended camps across the country and Chris Rubio told me I have a D-1 snap.”

Coleman spent this summer traveling across the nation attending camps and totaled over 6,300 miles in doing so. The trip to California was certainly the highlight of his endeavors with Chris Rubio releasing his assessment of the 17-year old Coleman.

“He is thick and powerful long snapper with great starting form. When he is on, Coleman is very on and is really close to snapping a college level ball right now. Really strong long snapper that does a great job of exploding out of the gate. He gets down, he gets set and BOOM!, the ball explodes out at the start of his snapping motion. Locking down his spiral and release point will be huge for Coleman. Leaning back will increase his overall accuracy since he won’t be falling forward. He is right on the cusp of greatness. Keep a close eye on Coleman this fall and at Vegas in January.”- Chris Rubio, Rubio Long Snapping

Coleman has been invited to the “VEGAS XLIII Camp” scheduled for Jan. 13-14 in Las Vegas. The Rubio event is regarded as the “Super Bowl” for long snappers and will serve to not only teach the athletes the fundamentals of long snapping, but also bring together the top long snappers from across the country at one location. From this two-day event, each athlete will be seen by numerous college coaches and depending on their success in demonstrating their long snapping talents will be selected and invited to the “Top 12” and “Event Elite” Camps to be held at later dates.

Around the lockers within the football room at the school Coleman is known as “T-Bone.” He also wrestles for the Jets’ wrestling program and carries a 4.05 grade point average in the classroom all while concentrating on being the best long snapper possible, which should be his calling for a college scholarship.
