UAH workshop: Turn fear into business savvy

HUNTSVILLE – A workshop at the University of Alabama in Huntsville will encourage participants to start on a transformative journey to unlock their ultimate potential in the business world.

“Join us for ‘Turn Fear into Power: Fueling Your Journey to Success,’ and we will equip you with the tools to turn fear into your greatest asset,” Rigved P. Joshi said. At UAH, Joshi is Assistant Vice President for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and works as Director of the Invention to Innovation Center or I2C.

The workshop on June 5 will run from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the I2C, 850 Ben Graves Drive on the UAH campus. Organizers will provide food, wine and beer; guests must present an ID for libations. The event is associated with Women in Tech // HSV with its AMPStudio.

“Participants can delve deep into the psychological and neurological roots of fear, identifying common anxieties in the business arena and crafting a personalized toolkit for triumph,” Joshi said. “The workshop will feature insights from the remarkable Sonya Bailor, CEO of The Bailor Group.”

“You will glean inspiration from real-life success stories and engage in role-play exercises to navigate fear and skyrocket your career,” Joshi said.

The workshop will use specific tactics to reach a positive path of change:

* Psychological and neurological basis for fear – Explore the root causes of fear from both a psychological and neurological perspective, understanding how it affects a person’s body and mind.

* Identifying common fears in tech careers — Discuss specific fears prevalent in the tech industry, such as fear of failure, imposter syndrome or staying relevant in a fast-evolving field.

* Strategies for managing fear / building a personal toolkit for fear — Access practical tools and techniques for managing and overcoming fears, tailored to professional contexts.

* Real-life success stories — Hear inspiring stories from individuals who used these exact methods to successfully navigate through their fears to achieve remarkable success.

* Role-play scenarios and group discussions — Experience role-play exercises to practice fear-handling strategies and engage in group discussions.

Participants can expect to receive key takeaways, such as gaining practical tools to manage fears and enhance personal effectiveness. Another benefit is learning strategies to overcome common business anxieties. The group will hear inspiring success stories and engage in peer learning, according to Joshi.

Sponsors for 2024 include Accenture, Exiger, Intuitive Research and Technology Corporation, Integration Innovation Inc., Maynard Nexsen, SAIC, Signalink Inc. and Sinequa.

Because limited seating is available, RSVP is mandatory. For more information, email wit-hsv@uah.edu or visit bit.ly/AMPStudio_SonyaB.
