Jarvis Wilson Exits Sparkman Basketball After Three Seasons

HARVEST- While posting three consecutive Area Championships and a state runner-up spot in three seasons, Jarvis Wilson has left his position as head coach of the Sparkman girls basketball program to except a similar spot with Ramsey High in Birmingham.

Two reasons can be associated with the move for Wilson, 46. He has an opportunity to coach at a school he has long admired and became very familiar with when he coached at a nearby Birmingham school Carver. His wife, Kimberly has been working in Birmingham and had been faced with a long commute each day. Add those two reasons and have a very good idea of why Wilson made the move away from Sparkman.

The Wilson’s have been married for 19 years and have two children ages 16 and 14.

In his three seasons at Sparkman, only the fourth coach of the program since 1977, his teams posted records of 26-5, 26-9 and 21-8. This past season the Lady Senators stayed on the heels of top Ranked Bob Jones before falling in the Northeast Regional. This came after Wilson’s squad made it to the state championship in 2023, but came up on the losing end to Hoover 55-44.
