‘Pulln’ for Recovery Truck Pull’ shows Partnership’s goal

MADISON – One of the area’s most unusual but effective fundraisers will occur at the sixth annual “Pulln’ For Recovery Truck Pull,” presented by Partnership for a Drug-Free Community.

Ten-member teams will compete to determine the champion in pulling a fullsize fire truck for 100 feet in the fastest time for this thrilling, family-friendly competition. Organizers say the event always promises a good time with great vibes at the Trash Pandas’ home field.

The Recovery Truck Pull at Toyota Field, 500 Trash Panda Way in Town Madison will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sept. 26.

Partnership for a Drug-Free Community, a non-profit organization, is dedicated to creating a healthier place to live without dangerous drugs in North Alabama. Partnership empowers youth with drug, alcohol and tobacco education and prevention programs. The program also offers recovery resources and treatment referrals for adults — all at no cost.

Madison firefighters and other volunteers will be ready to test their strength by pulling a 46,000-pound fire truck. Madison Fire and Rescue Department employees will join forces with Partnership personnel to bring attention to substance use problems that face the local population.

The fast-paced competition will have multiple team categories. Participants will vie for trophies for “Fastest Pull” (for first-responders and residents); “Top Fundraising Team”; “Most Enthusiastic Team”; and “Slowest Pull.” Teams will be photographed with the fire trucks.

This meaningful, community event will support a vital cause because all funds raised will go directly to Partnership’s critical programs that serve North Alabama. Residents’ participation will help Partnership to continue providing free assessments for substance abuse, along with youth education programs and treatment connections that can change lives.

Sixteen-year-olds and older are welcome to participate. Minors are required to have parental consent.
