Chamber announces Board of Directors nominees

MADISON – Current board members with Madison Chamber of Commerce have announced its slate of nominees for the 2024-2025 Board of Directors.

Following the chamber’s bylaws, the current chamber board received and has approved the nominees. Voting deadline will be Oct. 1. at noon.

Voting will open on Sept. 15. Chamber members in good standing will have two weeks to cast their vote, either by mail to Madison Chamber of Commerce, 401 Carter Drive, Suite B, Madison AL 35758 or email michelle@madisonalchamber.com.

Members should vote ‘For’ or ‘Against’ the 2024-2025 Board of Directors nominees:

* Jeremy Gaertner, Chief Operations Officer, The Orthopaedic Center or TOC — Manages marketing, MRI, durable medical equipment, orthotics and prosthetics, maintenance, supply, radiology, Urgent-Ortho and regional clinical personnel.

Gaertner collaborates with local hospitals, athletic training partners and local school systems to help provide services and build relationships. He also develops staff, facilities and resources at 19 locations across North Alabama. Gaertner’s work was pivotal in the recent merger of TOC and Huntsville Hospital Systems.

He graduated from Louisiana Technical University and University of Alabama in Huntsville; he holds MSN and RN credentials.

* Joey Ceci, President, Breland Companies – Focus on residential, mixed-use and self-storage projects in North Alabama and Gulf Coast. Ceci has led development of Town Madison and Clift Farm — from concept to completion.

Previously, Ceci served as Director for Commerce, Transportation and Legislative Affairs for Madison County Commission. He recruited Remington Firearms and GE Aviation.

Ceci founded Main Street Strategies, which provided public relations and business development to clients like Radiance Technologies, Crestwood Medical Center and Teledyne Brown Engineering.

* Victor Vasile, Regional Divisional Counsel, Hexagon Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial – Leads legal department for North America to provide specialized contracting and legal counsel.

Vasile previously worked at Sirote & Permutt P.C. law firm in Huntsville. He primarily engaged in commercial transactions, along with corporate and government litigation. Vasile received a Juris Doctor degree from University of Alabama after earning a bachelor’s degree magna cum laude from Birmingham-Southern College.

* Shauna Smiley, Branch Manager, United Community Bank – Grew up in Hamilton, Ohio, but has lived in North Alabama since 1990. Smiley has completed 10-plus years of experience in the retail banking industry.

In addition, she is licensed in Alabama in life insurance. Her background includes sales and 30 years of leadership experience with previous employers.

Currently, she serves as a board member for SEVEDA, a non-profit organization that supports victims of domestic abuse.

An individual can nominate additional candidates with a required petition containing genuine signatures of five percent minimum of the chamber’s qualified members. The individual must file the petition within 10 days after the current nominees have received notice.

If no one files a petition within the designated period, nominations will close. The Nominating Committee’s determination about the petition’s legality will be final.

“On behalf of the chamber’s board, I would like to thank you for your continued support of the Madison Chamber of Commerce. We value your membership,” Nominating Chair Dr. Ed Nichols said.
