Limestone sheriff: Madison man charged with child and animal abuse

Dauwen

MADISON – A Madison man was arrested Friday and charged with multiple counts of electronic solicitation of a child, possessing child pornography, aggravated cruelty to animals and aggravated child abuse, according to court records and the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office.

Jesse James Dauwen, 19, remained in the Limestone County Jail on Tuesday in lieu of a $422,500 bond, jail records show.

The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office said they, along with the FBI and “several task force officers” from various agencies, obtained a search warrant for a home in Limestone County after investigating a lead about crimes against children. Dauwen was arrested following the search.

According to affidavits signed by an investigator and filed in court on Monday, Dauwen compelled a child on multiple occasions over the past year to “cut herself on her legs and arms, leaving lacerations and bleeding.”

Dauwen is also accused of possessing images and videos of a child “standing in front of a mirror, cutting herself, licking the blood, urinating and exposing her genitalia,” according to the affidavits.

Over the last year, according to the affidavits, Dauwen also had “deviant sexual encounters with his 2 dogs.”

Charges against Dauwen include one count of aggravated child abuse, nine counts of electronic solicitation of a child, 10 counts of possessing child pornography with the intent to disseminate it and one count of aggravated cruelty to animals.
