Lady Patriots win state swim championship

This is the third consecutive state title win for the Bob Jones girls team

HUNTSVILLE – The Bob Jones Lady Patriots won their third consecutive state championship at the 65th AHSAA Swimming and Diving State Championships held at Huntsville’s Aquatic Center.

The Patriots were led by sophomore sensation Abby Chan who won two individual state titles and helped two relay squads to victories. Overall, the Patriots took home six first place finishes while James Clemens brought home three gold medals.

Bob Jones individual titles included Chan in both the 100-yard fly and 100-yard back- stroke, Meli Mbuko in the

50-yard freestyle, girls 200yard medley relay, girls

400-yard freestyle relay and boys 200-yard freestyle relay.

For James Clemens, junior Christian Webster took home titles in both the 300-yard IM and

100-yard backstroke and Tatum Scully in the 500yard freestyle.

The final team standings were: Girls- 1. Bob Jones 268, 5. James Clemens 167.50; Boys- 3. James Clemens 223, 4. Bob Jones 196.50.
