Madison Hospital honors Emily Fogg for work in clinical education

MADISON – With her job, Emily Fogg meets other healthcare workers in all stages of their careers — from recent graduates to longtime employees nearing retirement. For her outstanding work in clinical education, Fogg was honored as “Employee of the Month” by Madison Hospital for December 2024.

“I also enjoy educating on the importance of nursing skills and critical thinking,” Fogg said. She works as Clinical Education Specialist in the Clinical Outcomes Department at Madison Hospital.

Mary Lynne Wright, President of Madison Hospital, described Fogg as “patient-focused, all the time. Emily ensures that the care we provide is top notch.”

“Emily is warm, caring and compassionate. She instills in new Registered Nurses why it is important to be a patient advocate,” Wright said.

Madison Hospital employs approximately 450 full- and part-time RNs. Currently, the hospital has 30 openings for nurses in various departments, Wright said.

Fogg’s motivation to follow a career in nursing started when she was younger. “My grandfather was involved in a serious farming accident that required him to be hospitalized and bed-bound for quite some time,” she said.

“Seeing the impact nurses make, not only in the lives of the patients but also in the lives of the family, motivated me to become a nurse,” Fogg said. “Being a nurse is important to me because I believe we’re called to serve others. I can’t think of a more important time to serve others than when they are sick and needing help.”

Learning about her selection as Employee of the Month, Fogg was both shocked and grateful. “I work with so many hardworking people who are well deserving of the award.”

“My position deals mostly with the on-boarding education of new staff members,” Fogg said. When new staff members feel comfortable and confident going to their respective units, Fogg and her assigned team have made the most of the day.

Previously, Fogg worked at Tristar Horizon Medical Center in Dickson, Tenn. on Medical/ Surgical, Progressive Care and ICU units. She also worked at Huntsville Hospital on Progressive Surgery Units.

During seven years with Madison Hospital, Fogg worked on Medical/Surgical and ICU units before transferring to Clinical Outcomes Department.

Away from work, Fogg enjoys time with her family, baking, reading, gardening, listening to music and spending time outdoors.
