Ten James Clemens football players sign for scholarships

MADISON – James Clemens hosted its second largest athletic signing in school history as 10 members of the Jets’ football team signed scholarships to continue to showcase their talents beyond high school. An additional three athletes from the squad will sign their whereabouts at a later date. Here’s the complete list of the signees:.

Ty Doughty (WR/RB, 5-9, 170, Sr.) signed with Mercer College a Div. I FCS program. He had 49 receptions for 490 yards and 3 TDs along with 60 rushing attempts for 398 yards and 3 more TDs. He is a three-time All-State selection with 4,374 all-purpose yards and 29 touchdowns while at James Clemens.

AJ Little (WR, 6-0, 182, Sr.) signed as a wide receiver with Air Force. In 2024, he had 17 receptions for 280 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Isaac Achenbach (TE, 6-5, 223, Sr.), a permanent team captain and participant in the AHSAA North-South All-Star Game also signed with Air Force. His work as a tight end included 3 receptions for 31 yards and 3 TDs and 25-plus pancake blocks.

Cam Berry (RB/STAR, 5-9, 178, Sr.) rushed for 744 yards on 125 carries recording 7 touchdowns. He was a two-time permanent team captain and was named the 2024 team MVP. Over his career at James Clemens he had over 1,500 rushing yards with 18 touchdowns. He signed with Div. II program Carson Newman.

Ryan Bland (OL, 6-1, 233, Sr.) signed with Kentucky Wesleyan. The team permanent team captain was also tabbed the team Offensive Lineman of the Year after 23 pancakes with an awesome 88-percent average grade.

Micah Douglas (OL, 6-1, 243, Sr.) also signed with Carson Newman, after a great 2024 season where he graded 90-percent from his offensive line spot with 28 pancakes. He was selected to play in the AHSAA North-South All-Star Game.

Derrick Thomas (OL, 6-2, 305, Sr.) a huge physical specimen signed with Virginia at Wise. He had 20 pancakes on the season while posting a blocking grade of 87-percent.

Tim Coleman (OL, 5-11, 211, Sr.) rated the No. 1 long snapper in Alabama and one of the best in the U.S. signed with Virginia at Wise. As starting center for the Jets he graded 87-percent and had 18 pancakes. A permanent team captain was named the Huntsville QB Club’s Special Teams Player of the Year while selected for the annual Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game.

Brycen Dowdell (CB, 6-1, 158, Sr.) signed with East Tennessee State after a splendid 2024 season for the Jets where he recorded 66 tackles, 43 of which were solo efforts. He had 4 interceptions, 5 pass break ups and 3 blocked kicks.

Myles Taylor- (S, 5-10, 166, Sr.) posted 43 tackles with 23 of those solo efforts. He also recorded 4 interceptions and will take his defensive talents to Iowa Central Jr. College.
