City council accepting Madison City Schools Board of Education applications

MADISON The city of Madison is now accepting applications for a spot on the Board of Education for Madison City School District.

The city is accepting applications between now and March 24 for a five year term expiring in 2030. The city council will pick candidates from the applicant pool to interview on April 9, and between April 14 and April 28, the council will make their official selection.

The individual selected will be ready to start on the Board of Education ahead of the annual reorganization of the board in early May.

“We’re always accepting applications but as of right now, every year, right, we have a board spot that comes up for appointment and right now, we’re going to accept applications for that position through 24 March so about a month from now,” said City Council President John Seifert.

Seat 2, currently occupied by board president Tim Holtcamp who is serving his second term on the board, is the seat in question as Holtcamp’s term expires in June. Holtcamp has served on the board since the start of his first term in May of 2015.

In addition to Holtcamp, the current members of the Board of Education are vice president Travis Cummings, Alice Lessmann, Tommy Overcash, and Scott Newberry.

Online applications are available on the city’s website, madisonal.gov, under Boards & Committees.
