Madison City Schools selects ParentSquare for new choice in school-to-home communication

MADISON – As students return to campus for the 2025-2026 school year, personnel in Madison City Schools will use a different tool called ParentSquare for systemwide school-tohome communication.

Dr. Ed Nichols, MCS Superintendent, announced the new platform in June.

ParentSquare, a single source platform, will consolidate all messages and contacts with everything in one place. Families no longer need to manage multiple tools to remain informed about events and news that are happening at their school or on multiple campuses.

The unified communications platform replaces services like Remind, GroupMe and other services and apps. Previously, sports teams and coaches, club officers and the large number of extracurricular activities, like athletic training and after-school band rehearsals, have used other tools indiscriminately throughout the school system.

ParentSquare puts everyone on one platform. Its platform is designed to keep parents and guardians informed and encourages increased engagement and connection with school district employees. ParentSquare provides a safe and convenient way for district administrators, school principals, teachers, staff and parents to complete several needs:

• Receive district, school and class information, including weather closings, delayed openings and early dismissals, along with any news that affects the entire student body.

• Share photographs and files related to campus news.

• Access calendar items for review.

• Sign up to volunteer for school events.

• Schedule parent-teacher conferences.

For convenience, parents should download the ParentSquare app, which is available for free for iOS from the App Store and Android devices from Google play.

To start, parents will receive information about activating an account. Then, type either your email address or phone number.

Parents will receive all district, school, grade-level and classroom information on computers, telephone, email, text or a combination of these tools. Parents will receive more details about ParentSquare before the start of the school year.
