Huntsville Ballet Company 2025–2026 Season

HBC UNPLUGGED

HUNTSVILLE – The Huntsville Ballet Company has unveiled its 2025– 2026 season this week—an inspiring collection of performances that span world premieres, beloved holiday traditions, and classical fairytale ballet.

Entering its 62nd season, HBC continues to be a beacon of artistic excellence in North Alabama, captivating audiences of all ages through innovative storytelling and timeless beauty.

HBC opens the season in an intimate, immersive format with two world premieres that showcase the company’s bold commitment to new voices in dance.

• The Shape of a Promise by Ashley Dolloff explores the joys and trials of covenantal love in a romantic ballet set to the evocative compositions of Sergei Rachmaninoff.

• Beneath the October Moon, choreographed by Gina Guerrera and set to an original score by Huntsville-based composer Jackson Love, leads audiences—children and adults alike—through a whimsical Halloween adventure full of enchantment and surprise.

Each evening concludes with HBC’s signature audience Q&A, offering a rare behind-the-scenes look into the creative process with the dancers and artistic staff.

THE NUTCRACKER

December 12–14 Mark C. Smith Concert Hall

Celebrate the magic of the season with Huntsville’s most cherished holiday tradition—The Nutcracker. Now in its 55th production, this timeless tale of Clara, her Prince, and the magical world of sweets comes to life with dazzling sets, intricate choreography, and live accompaniment by the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra.

From the glittering snowflakes to the joyful Land of Sweets, The Nutcracker is the perfect way to usher in the holidays for families and audiences of all ages.

DANCER’S CHOICE SERIES:

IN-STUDIO PERFORMANCES February 13–15, 2026 HBC Studios

Back by popular demand, the Dancer’s Choice Series places creative control in the hands of HBC company dancers, who choreograph and perform original works in the genres that inspire them most. These up-close, in-studio performances foster rich dialogue between artists and audiences, offering a rare glimpse into the innovative minds of HBC’s rising talent.

Seating is limited for public performances. Pri- vate showings for groups up to 30 guests are available by reservation at (256) 539-0961.

SPRING PERFORMANCE: THE SLEEPING BEAUTY

April 17–19, 2026 Mark C. Smith Concert Hall

The season closes with the grandeur and grace of one of ballet’s most iconic fairytales—The Sleeping Beauty. Set to the brilliant score by Peter Tchaikovsky, this lavish full-length production brings the story of Princess Aurora to life as she battles an age-old curse, only to be awakened by true love’s kiss.

With its sweeping choreography, vivid storytelling, and magical staging, The Sleeping Beauty is a must-see for ballet lovers and newcomers alike.
